About Nando’s
The first Nando’s restaurant opened its doors in 1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since then, the Nando’s flame has spread to 23 countries on five continents. From the very beginning, the founders wanted Nando’s to be more than chicken and profit. So much so that in the early days, our slogan was “have fun and then make money” but always in the right way, giving people opportunities and making a positive impact on their lives. The rest is history! Today, you can find Nando’s restaurants and our addictive grocery range all around the world.

Five words we live by, our values have guided Nando’s from humble beginnings to where we are today. They come to life when we express them in our daily actions by being generous, building relationships, having fun, taking responsibility and getting things done.
Everyone is Welcome
Nando’s has always been committed to equality, justice, and the overall improvement of Nandocas’ livelihoods across the world. We created impact hiring partnerships with Project Generation and DC Central Kitchen to hire young people from underrepresented communities and provide them access to work where they would traditionally have been excluded. Our restaurant teams have worked to create a sense of belonging through our hiring and onboarding practices so everyone can feel welcomed.

We aim to provide everyone with a platform to realize their full potential. The LEAD Career Ladder provides a path for our restaurant-based Nandocas. Starting at the hourly Nandoca level, the ladder climbs all the way up to the Area Director level, resulting in 8 levels of work.
No ordinary little word, LEAD stands for Learn, Explore, Achieve and Develop. It clarifies the criteria for advancing from one level of the ladder to the next and defines the work that must be done at each level. LEAD brings our values to life by detailing how we express them in our daily actions.

Everything from daily pre-shifts where we celebrate our values being lived to our legendary Indabas/conferences. With visible, authentic leaders we want our Nandocas to have pride in where they work and the food they serve–and for every day to be an extraordinary experience.
