The Mari Gas Field, originally owned by the Pakistan Stanvac Petroleum Project a joint venture formed in 1954 between the Government of Pakistan and M/s Esso Eastern Incorporated (U.S.A), made its first gas discovery in the lower Kirthar Limestone Formation in 1957.

Senior Corrosion & Inspection Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Management of existing Inspection and Corrosion programs to detect problems, prevent failures, provide critical inputs, recommendations for improving inspection strategies.
  • Assessment of deterioration mechanisms, corrosion rates, investigation of failures, recommend evidence-based repair/replacement.
  • Analyse corrosion monitoring data, effectiveness/optimization of corrosion control measures & devise inspection plans ensuring effective & efficient corrosion management system.
  • Asset integrity Support Services to all other MPCL Fields on requirement basis.
  • Providing feedback regarding material selection, corrosion monitoring & control philosophies of new projects.
  • Shutdown inspection preparations with close coordination with other disciplines.
  • Coordination, site supervision of the contractor/vendors/third party during execution of ECDA/ICDA, ILI and others NDTs (e.g. ECDA, ECT, PAUT, A-scan/UFD, etc.) for integrity assessment of the assets.
  • Execution of Plant Piping, Pressure Vessels and Tanks inspections in conjunction with NDTs, subsequent data reviews establish/, calculate Corrosion Rates & Remaining Lives.
  • Operations, monitoring, maintenance of Cathodic Protection Systems installed for buried assets (Piping, pipelines, Tanks internal/bases etc.) ensuring systems’ effective conducting PSP Survey, CIP, DCVG, physical verifications and other pertinent techniques.
  • Evaluation of On-Line Corrosion rate Monitoring through Electrical Resistance Probes (ER Probes) and Corrosion Coupons Analysis (WLCs) to establish and analyze the asset health.
  • Planning and implementation of External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA) protocol for underground pipeline.
  • Inspections of Piping, Pressure Vessels, Tanks and Third-Party API certifications.
  • Prepare the inhibitor injection schedules in coordination with the Chief Engineer and follow it for injection into wells as well as pipeline for protection from internal corrosion.
  • Assessment of coating condition and effectiveness of CP system through C-Scan/DGVC/CIP surveys of underground pipeline network.
  • Management of Pipeline Pigging, Corrosion Inhibitor Batch and Continuous Injections activities.
  • Retrieving and installation of coupons for lab analysis and based upon the results taking corrective measures for the prevention of corrosion.
  • Maintain corrosion-related KPIs monthly & yearly based and reporting.
  • Conduct field inception surveys; for wellhead surface facilities, damages supports/foundations, exposed gas pipelines, ROWs encroachments/erosion, damaged paints/coating, missing appurtenance etc. & subsequent reporting.
  • Ensure smooth operation of Chemical Injection Pumps and Thermo-Electric Generators.
  • Execution of Soil resistivity surveys for Cathodic bed installation at appropriate locations.
  • CP System upgradation by replenishment of Cathodic beds, Junctions Boxes and Electrical Cables.
  • Management of Pressure Vessels internal protective coating jobs including coating selection and optimization of coating activities in consultation with coating experts.
  • Development of Welders Qualifications, Welding Inspection, Repair and Hydro/Pneumatic testing procedures.
  • Development of inspection test plans / formats ATA reports & management of inspection and corrosion records.
  • Inspection of Piping Fabrication, Welding and Orientations/Dimensions as per construction drawings.
  • Coordination for Quality Audits, taking appropriate corrective and preventive actions for the closing of CARs.
  • Preparation of Annual Budget (OPEX and CAPEX) through coordination with all departments.

Qualification & Experience:

  • BE or BSc in engineering discipline (Mechanical/ Metallurgical Engineering preferred) from a HEC recognized university (in case of inland education).
  • Preferred candidate is expected to have 8 – 10 years of experience in maintenance in petrochemical, refining, oil/gas exploration and/or production industries in a similar role.
  • Having sound knowledge & grip on ASME Sec I, II, V, VIII, XI, B31.3, B16.5, ASTM, API 510, 570,571,574,576, 577, 578, 579, 580,581,653, 527, TOYO &SNAM Specs.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant NACE/API/ASME/ISO codes and standards.
  • Strong technical knowledge of corrosion, corrosion mechanisms, environmental assisted cracking and materials in the upstream Oil and Gas industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of relevant inspection techniques.
  • Capable of performing basic and managing detailed FFS analyses.

Competencies and Skills Required:

  • Project execution practical experience (e.g. Engineering, Controls, C&P, and Construction).
  • Fluent in English language
  • Expertise in basic computer packages like MS Office, Primavera P6, Adobe, Data mining
  • Fluent in English language
  • Capable of performing basic and managing detailed FFS analyses.
  • Detailed knowledge of coatings & coating processes.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of selecting and designing of corrosion management, corrosion mitigation and monitoring programs.
  • Strong understanding of materials, failure mechanisms, and corrosion issues as they pertain to the oil & gas industry
  • Ability to successfully work in a cross-functional environment with many different groups & customers.
